ISLAND MAGIC 2009 IMPROVED PRODUCTION NATIONALS NEARS 100 ENTRIES SPORTS CAR ENDURO NEAR RECORD CUE for November 21 & 22.
Phillip Island Auto Racing Club Ltd has announced that its annual Island Magic Race Meeting has equaled to last years near record entry for the CUE 1 Hour Sports Car Enduro. 49 cars have entered to date backing up last years 49 car grid.
Whilst for the 2009 Improved Production Nationals a record 90 entries have been received from all states of Australia with potential for another10 to be accepted.
IPRA VIC President Ben Schoots and his hard working committee are ecstatic with this entry for the event which created great excitement when last conducted at the Island in 2004.
Other categories have smaller fields but will certainly turn top racing with Formula Ford and Formula Ford 1600, Formula Vee, Sports Sedans and Historic Touring Cars in the mix.
The Cue Sports Car event continues to astound organizers with the manner it has captured the interest of competitors Australia wide despite the impact of the GFC on discretionary spending like racing.
The event attracts drivers from all walks of life, various ages and with vastly differing Sports Cars from the exotic Ted Huglin Lamborghini Gallardo, to last years winner Ross Lilley in the fearsome Dodge Viper to Porsche GT3s and 911s the mighty MGB V8 of Gippsland Medico Dr Mort Fitzgerald, Porsche 944s and Mazda MX5s. The All Seasons Eco Resort Phillip Island 50K Plate for Sports Sedans is again a feature on the program with lap record holder Darren Hossack leading the charge in his super fast Audi A4.
The All Seasons Eco Resort is celebrating Island Magic with the now traditional magic hours with cut price drinks on the Saturday night and welcomes the public to come and spend time chatting with drivers and officials at the resort’s Café and Bar.
Island Magic provides a great way for both competitors and spectators on a budget to conclude another fantastic season of racing at Australia’s most picturesque and challenging circuit located in Australia’s most visited holiday destination.
