Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) concluded the Pirelli Dutch Round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship on a SUPER high note with his best result in WorldSBK at the TT Circuit Assen with his first WorldSBK Podium.
Race one, soaked with difficult weather conditions, saw a tyre gamble and a fortunately timed red flag allowing Nicholas Spinelli (Barni Spark Racing Team) to claim a stunning debut win in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, in front of championship contenders Bautista and Razgatlioglu, with Aussie Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) close behind, equalling his best WorldSBK result to take fourth place, finishing just six seconds away from Spinelli.
On Day two, Gardner saw the potential for a podium again and despite starting the Superpole Race from sixth on the grid, Gardner, the only Aussie rider in WorldSBK, consistently battled within the top five throughout the race, engaging in intense duels with rivals like Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) and Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha). However, a last-lap manoeuvre by Lowes relegated Gardner to a hard-fought fourth position.
Gardner used the battle with Lowes as motivation for Race 2 saying “I’m kicking myself for that, man, what am I doing’, leaving the door open like that!” after congratulating Lowes saying (Alex) “rode a good race, we had a good scrap”!
Gardner entered Race 2 with EVEN MORE built-up determination. Starting again from sixth on the grid, he quickly worked his way into podium contention, taking first place for a few laps , then holding second place for what looked like a safe result, however, as rain began to fall at Assen, Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) overtook Gardner in the testing conditions for second. Nevertheless, Gardner held his ground and crossed the finish line in a historic THIRD place, securing his first WorldSBK podium!
Reflecting on this long-awaited milestone, Gardner’s relief and satisfaction was evident, acknowledging the challenges he had faced in the past year as a Superbike rider. Thanking his team for their support and hard work, he went on to say “Honestly, I feel like we should have had at least two podiums this weekend, but I can’t complain. I think we have maybe broken the curse and are finally back on the box. It has been two years with this podium drought that has finally come to an end.”
Gardner now sets his sights on the upcoming round in Misano, currently sitting in eighth place in the standings. The Australian rider, who transitioned from the MotoGP paddock in 2023, spoke about the difficulties he faced in reaching his maiden WorldSBK podium, highlighting his unwavering self-belief and determination to succeed. #aussiespirit

In other exciting superbike news, Aussies Tom Edwards, Luke Power and Oli Bayliss fought hard all weekend with mixed results in the testing conditions during the Dutch Round.
Race One saw Aussie & European Championship contender Tom Edwards (D34G Racing WorldSSP Team) come home in an impressive 5th place after choosing slick tyres in a gamble that payed divedens. Fellow Aussie & European Championship contender Luke Power (Motozoo ME AIR Racing) had his best result also rounding out the top 10 with a great result. Race 2 proved very testing for our Aussie contingent seeing Edwards the only finisher with Bayliss and Power both retiring.
