The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is looking for highly motivated individual with previous experience in venue or motorsport operations to fill the role of Motorsport Operations Manager.
This role is responsible for managing our motorsport operations with a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, customer service, and cost control.
You will lead our motorsport department consisting of one full-time and two casual staff, ensuring all aspects of our motorsport operations are planned, documented, and delivered effectively.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Planning and documenting motorsport activity and processes.
- Preparing motorsport equipment and facilities.
- Monitoring motorsport activity for compliance.
- Responding to track incidents and hirer needs, including maintenance tasks and cleaning.
- Assisting in the planning for major events
You are expected to participate in a seven-day roster including weekend work, early starts and late finishes in line with the venue hirers requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and update motorsport documentation and processes for compliance.
- Plan upcoming motorsport activity, supplier coordination and communication with internal departments
- Effective leadership of the motorsport department including staff rostering
- Ensure that motorsport equipment, facilities and track are prepared to of a high standard.
- Supervision of daily motorsport activity:
o Conduct daily opening procedures, checking readiness of facilities, garages, paddock and track.
o Conduct daily closing procedures, blow garages out, perform minor repairs and cleaning
o Observe motorsport activities for compliance, enforcing safety standards and hire terms as required.
o Respond to track incidents – perform oil spill cleanups, barrier repairs and minor cleaning with assistance
from maintenance)
o Document on-track and off-track incidents (medical, fire, oil spills, safety hazards)
o Review and archive CCTV footage from motorsport incidents.
o Report notifiable incidents to WorkSafe
o Monitor motorsport noise levels and conduct off-site noise testing.
o Oversee fuel compound and update necessary documentation
o Attend race meetings and operate from race control
o Supervise critical incident protocols. - Plan and perform track related maintenance and upgrades with assistance from maintenance (tyre barrier
construction, track painting, verge repairs) - Assist in the motorsport-specific planning for WorldSBK and MotoGP
- Ongoing review of motorsport operational costs
- Adhere to OH&S requirements, implementing safe work practices with awareness of associated risks and
responsibilities
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL POSSESS:
- Current drivers licence
- Forklift license*
- First aid certificate*
* Training will be provided where required - Previous experience in venue operations or similar role
- Effective communication and reporting skills, strong time management and attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to follow processes and develop documentation, proposals and cost analyses
- Competent and willingness to undertake maintenance tasks and use power tools
