Championship Racing At Phillip Island This Weekend

This weekend PIARC presents Round 2 of the 2017 Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships at the Picturesque and Exciting Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

The weekend includes a Korean invasion with a plethora of Cheap and Cheerful Excels. The latest phenomenon to hit State Racing, the Circuit Excels, have excelled by presenting  a fantastic 48 entries of these entry level shopping trollies to headline all the usual entertaining  categories including Improved Production, Formula Ford, Formula Ford 1600, Formula Vee, HQ Holdens, MGs, Sports Sedans, Sports Cars, Porsche 944, Saloon Cars and Historic Touring Cars. In all this weekend will see 230 cars racing with a fantastic 20% being the Kamikazes from Korea.

The Formula Ford 1600 category receives a bolster with 4 historic Formula Fords joining the 1600 ranks, led by category administrator Phil Marrinon and backed up by former F2 Champion Richard Davison, his sister Claire Greig and her husband Johnny. Watch out for more historic Formula Fords joining the ranks as the season progresses, showing CAMS may have erred in taking the away the categories national championship status.

Improved Production Cars keep up their reputation for large fields with 29 cars following on from their Nationals last November when 123 cars graced the Island Circuit in what was an all-time record for one category at the circuit.

The action commences at 9.00am, raging until 5.00 pm daily. Adults weekend passes are an easy on the pocket family friendly $30.00, with kids under 16 admitted free. 28 Races assure great budget priced nonstop entertainment over 2 days, with spectacular views all around the circuit from the comfort of your car with Island Magic FM commentary for free.
