Come And Try Grass Roots Motorsport: It’s Never Been Easier

Have you ever wished you could actually drive your own vehicle around Victoria’s premier racetrack: Phillip Island? The MSCA Come and Try Day program, held on the 12th December 2015 makes it easy to get involved.

The Come and Try Day structure provides Sprint Day experience, with both formal and on-track instruction and training.

“We have experienced drivers who will act as trainers and mentors for the participants,”

Says Petrina Astbury, one of the official trainers who provides classroom instruction to participants.

“Our participants attend three information sessions covering a general drivers’ briefing, driving techniques and other relevant matters in a classroom setting. In between the classroom sessions our participants have two on-track runs with an experienced driving instructor.  They then experience 2 solo runs to complete the day’s fun.

The Participants are provided with a Come and Try Manual before the event, to familiarise themselves with the vehicle requirements, and what they need to bring on the day”.

Says Petrina.

“As well as encouraging new people to participate in motorsport as competitors, the Come and Try programme gives our seasoned competitors the opportunity to give back to the sport that has provided so much enjoyment over the years.”

What else is happening on the day?

Further to classroom instruction and track participation there will be trade display area including Penrite Oil, Hankook Tyres, Revolution Race gear and more, providing information regarding all things relevant to grass roots motorsport.  Corporate supporters Famous Insurance will have staff on hand to provide competitive quotes and explain their unique track day insurance policy.  Ex V8 Super Car driver and Formula 4 category manager Cam McConville will be available to provide further knowledge.
