The Team Australia regular is familiar with Island Classic success having topped the individual points table at the 2018 event on his way to giving Australia its first Challenge win in three years.
Johnson was blighted by machine issues last year but demonstrated again his brilliance on Challenge-era machinery, when he won the Superbike Classic TT in August at the Isle of Man. He arrives at Phillip Island after a podium results in November’s Macau GP and June’s Superstock TT at the Isle of Man. Rather than the usual Harris- XR69 Suzuki he’s raced in recent years, Johnson will be on a Carl Cox-sponsored Katana.
