Island Magic Hits The Island

This weekend sees another milestone with Island Magic promoting the Isola Di Capri 2017 Saloon Car Nationals not only as a fitting tribute to the cessation of manufacturing by Ford and Holden in Australia, but as a testament with 32 entries that this form of racing will continue in the years to come.

The 50K Plate for Sports Sedans backed by Ramada Resort Phillip Island, for the 11th consecutive year, brings 33 of these fast sedans with their aural delights to the circuit to play. Ramada Resort also provides entertainment for race fans with Document Check in the resort bar on Friday night where the public can mix with the drivers. The 50K Plate concludes the 2017 Victorian Sports Sedan Championship.

The Phillip Island Formula Ford Trophy this year features a strong contingent of Formula Fords but the Formula Ford 1600s have been scarred off by the scintillating form of multiple Victorian Champion Brendan Jones again capturing number 1.

The popular Historic Touring Cars will provide 31 entries for new sponsor Magic Manor at Amaz’N Things in the Victorian Historic Touring Car Trophy, with multiple winner Darren Collins back to repeat his wins whilst fighting off a full field of Mustangs, GT Falcons, Torana XU1s, Minis, Cortinas and Chargers etc.

Improved Production fans will be well catered for with a great field, headed by newly crowned 2017 IPRA Nationals Champion Ray Hislop in his Falcon V8 and Commodore VY V8 nemesis Damien Milano, battling a host of other makes and models.

944 Victorian Champion Cameron Beller heads up a better sized field of Porsche 944 Challenge racers after being rested last year.

The Cue / Industrie 1 Hour Victorian Tourist Trophy Endurance Race returns with a more compact field of 30 Exotic Sports Cars, including 19 Porsches, 5 Audis R8s, 2 Lamborghinis and 2 Lotus Exige  and lone  versions of Aston Martin GT4 and Ginetta.

Don’t miss out as Island Magic is a great way for both drivers and spectators to finish up a year’s racing at Australia’s most picturesque and challenging race circuit.

PIARC spokesman Geoff Bull emphasized the clubs commitment to affordable family motorsport events with no change to admission to great motorsport and heritage at a budget friendly $30.00 for a weekend pass and all accompanied kids under 16 are admitted free.
