Shannons Nationals Back At Phillip Island

The Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals returns to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for Round 2 of this year’s National Series on May 23rd and 24th.

The Australian GT Championship returns to the Island for Round 2 of the 2015 Championship again using the single 101 Lap Saturday race of the 4.45km seaside circuit. This fantastic race format was used last year for the first time and only at The Island in Australia and Highland Park in New Zealand where both races were won by the Tony Quinn / Garth Tander combination in an Aston Martin.

This partnership resume for 2015 but this year in a new McLaren 650S with 450 kilometers of racing with pit stop action and an all-out attack on Jack Le Brocq’s 2013 GT record of 1.27.1505 set in the Mercedes Benz SLS which remains the 4th fastest lap of the picturesque seaside circuit ever.

Don’t miss this event with 39 of the world’s most exotica Sports Cars, including Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mercedes Benz, Audis, Lotuses and American Iron in the form of fantastic new Reiter 7.9 Litre Chev Camaro’s of Justin McMillan & Dale Paterson.

The Great Southern 4 Hour for the Australian Manufacturers Championship returns for its third year celebrating the great racing of the 1960s & 1970s Phillip Island events, then known as The “Manchamps”, but now known as AMChamps with Mitsubishi EVOs, BMWs, Subaru WRXs and a host of other Hightec Turbo cars mixed with high performance HSV Commodores, FPV Falcons along with Japan and Europe’s best pocket rockets.

The inaugural Australian Formula Ford National Series for2014 was successfully concluded at the Island last November’s iconic Island Magic Meeting and this year returns to the circuit as Round 2 on this Shannon’s Nationals Calendar, with most of the fancied runners having had a hit out in the ultra-competitive 22 car field at last month’s Victorian Championship Meeting.

The CAMs Gold Star Championship for Formula 3 returns for the first of two rounds at Phillip Island this year in what will be their fastest circuit for 2015.

Capping off a great program is Round 2 of the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup with 2 X 1 hour Pro/Am races for 22 of the Type 991 Cup Cars.

Although driver pairings are yet to be announced former PIARC competitor of the year and the most experienced Carrera Cup driver Marc Cini has announced German GT star Christopher Mies as his co-driver.

Qualifying and racing from 9.00am each day.

Weekend Pass $35:00, accompanied, kids under 16 free. Daily admission available.
