The Australian Production Cars Take Centre Stage At Phillip Island

The Australian Production Cars take Centre Stage this weekend November 2-4 for the final Round of the 2018 Series, to conclude their year with a 6 Hour Endurance Race, as part of one of Phillip Island’s final 150th Anniversary celebratory weekends.

The Production Cars have been undergoing a restructure during 2018 and this weekend’s 6 Hour features a compact field of 23 cars but includes a very representative 14 manufacturers from 6 countries, certainly diversity is alive and well in motor racing

Much like Phillip Island with its diverse population celebrating it’s birth as a place 150 years ago with a series of festivals, which this weekend include a Community Parades in the main street of Cowes commencing at 11.00am, and an Historic Land Sale Re-enactment later in the day in the Cowes Town Square.

In the meantime at the Grand Prix Circuit practice and racing for Prototypes and the BMW E30 Invitational will be underway from 9.00am on Saturday along with the previously announced regularity events for Lotus Sports Cars now reconfigured for a series of Superprints around the 4.45Km circuit.

The Production Cars commence with Practice at 10.35am, followed by Qualifying from 12.50pm until to 1.35pm, culminating with two exciting shootouts commencing at 2.25pm until 3.00pm.

Saturday’s action is certainly varied with practice and qualifying for the Production Cars, the BMW E30 Invitational has both qualifying and racing, the Lotus Sports cars have Supersprints throughout the day and the fantastic Prototype Sports Cars have two 20 minute races and a 25 minute final to keep all entertained

The Australian Production Car Series and the BMW E30 Invitational provide a Sunday with a difference with the Production Car warm up opening the day followed by a 1 hour Race for the BMW E30 Invitational as a pre-cursor for a fabulous 6 Hour Production Car endure. Giving a nod to the Man Champ races of the early 1970s will be drivers including Gold Logy winner Grant Denyer, GT ace Tony D’Alberto, Mark Eddy, Garth Walden and James Brock to name a few.

Come and see great Production Car Racing on Phillip Island’s Grand Prix Circuit, where the spectators are winner at our most picturesque and exciting racing venue.
