Frederico Caricasulo fastest in WorldSSP FP1 while Aussie Oli Bayliss finishes 4th
While the 2022 World Supersport Champion Dominique Aegerter was looking somewhat untouchable in FP1, it was ultimately Althea Racing’s Frederico Caricasulo who lead the way with 1 minute remaining. Caricasulo was sitting in 10th place with 60 seconds left on the clock before he put in a charging pace in his final two laps, ending the session with a 1:34.067, leaving his 0.647 seconds clear of Aegerter in second.
Nikki Tuuli (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was another late charger in Free Practice 1, who jumped his way up the timing ladder with 8 minutes remaining of the session, stopping the clock at 1:34.783 to make his way into the top three.
But, it was all eyes on our only Australian rider in the World Supersport Championship, Oli Bayliss. It was a strong start for the young Aussie who found himself consistently within the top 12. It wasn’t until the later half of the session where Bayliss positioned himself perfectly on track behind Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider Nicolo Bulega. Bayliss put in his fastest lap of the session on the final lap, crossing the chequered flag with a 1:34.831, 0.764s behind FP1 leader Caricasulo.
Only 1 second covered the top 8 riders in FP1 of World Supersport.
