Everything you need to know ahead of the Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round!
The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round is only days away, commencing this Friday 18th November 2022. The World Champions have been crowned, but the stakes are still just as high as the WorldSBK paddock look to finish their 2022 seasons on a high. On the track, we know there will be LOADS of action not to be missed, but here’s what’s happening OFF-TRACK and in the paddock at the 2022 Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round!
PADDOCK SHOW
During the round, get unrivalled access to the WorldSBK Paddock with your three-day ticket and bask in the glorious entertainment that is the PADDOCK SHOW! Providing three days of non-stop entertainment, the Paddock Show also includes commentary with Michael Hill covering all the on-track action from Friday to Sunday, giving you a unique perspective of watching the races, as well as chat shows, autograph sessions and interviews from WorldSBK and WorldSSP stars, and a selection of our ASBK National Category racers!
The Paddock Show is at the heart of the WorldSBK Fan Zone, with more content and entertainment available. This gives you a chance to buy merchandise from your favourite rider teams and explore all the latest products. Another unique aspect of WorldSBK is a ‘victory lane’ concept; with the top three riders from each race and Tissot Superpole riding through the fans to get into parc ferme.
On Friday, the WorldSSP & WorldSBK Chat show will begin at 12.45pm, followed by a WorldSBK QUIZ GAME at 1.30pm! Once the on-track ended for the day, the ASBK Opening Day show will commence at 5.15pm, featuring your top three Australian Superbike riders, and your ASBK Supersport Pole Sitter, following this will be the World Superbike Opening Day Show!
On Saturday, Paddock Show will start at 10.15am for three hours of on-track live commentary, with another QUIZ GAME taking off at 1.50pm. Don’t miss the SBK Awards Show at 5.45pm to award our Tissot Superpole Winner in WorldSBK and WorldSSP. Following this will see our ASBK SSP300 & SBK rider meet n greet show, then stick around for the WorldSSP and WorldSBK rider meet ‘n’ greet and the NOT TO BE MISSED Phillip Island PADDOCK PARTY kicking off at 6.45pm!
For all our tech-savvy fans and spectators, you don’t want to miss the TYRE TALK at 9.30am on the Paddock Show stage, giving you a close insight into Pirelli Tyres. The MOTOZOO Kawasaki WorldSSP Presentation will then take place at 12.20pm, followed by live commentary ahead of the WorldSBK Superpole Race, ASBK Superbike Race, and WorldSSP Race 2. The Podium Show will then see follow immediately after, bringing our top three riders together to give you an exclusive insight into what went down on the track! At 4pm, get yourself settled in for the final race of the 2022 WorldSBK season with Michael Hill, where the top three riders will join the Paddock Show stage immediately after to hear all our riders have to say about the emotional final race!
WorldSBK Expo
A regular and very popular highlight over the weekend is the Superbike Expo, located in the exhibition building alongside Gardner Straight, opposite the pit garages. Major motorcycle and accessory suppliers are represented at the Expo with plenty to see and buy. Admission is FREE to event patrons and opens from 9.00am to 6.00pm Friday, 8.00am to 6.00pm Saturday and 8.00am to 5.00pm Sunday.
Pit Walk Passes
Single-day passes for Saturday and Sunday can be purchased from the Event Information Office located at the base of the pedestrian overpass on Gardner Straight. It’s the best way to see the riders and what happens in their pit box. Times: Saturday 1.40pm – 2.10pm and Sunday 12.05pm – 12.35pm
Go Karts are Operating Over the Event
Situated at the Visitor Centre, your Go Kart experience will be like no other. Try and beat the fastest times of the day, or just compete against your personal best with our lap time printouts. The karts run all day, no need to book just turn up.
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre
Located on your Circuit Map the Visitor Centre has live vision of the event and is the perfect place to take a break and relax. Enjoy a drink and a bite to eat at Champion’s Café and Bar or check out all the official event and Circuit merchandise.
The History of Motorsport display at the Visitor Centre has a magnificent display of 24 Grand Prix racing bikes. Purchased in Milan, Italy the 15 Aprilia and 10 Cagiva bikes rival any collection in Australia and possibly the world and feature 9 World Championship winning bikes including the 1997 Rossi 125.
Flair Action Sports ‘Trials Bikes’ / Team Army Display / Navy Flight Simulators
The action continues off-track with Flair Action Sports. Don’t miss their adrenalin-pumping shows located on Gardner Straight outside the expo. Be sure to also check out the ADF Team Army’s garage collection, Navy Helicopter and static Defence displays located on Gardner Straight North. While you’re at it, why not experience what it’s like to fly a Navy Helicopter at the Navy simulator stand located inside the expo!
Grand Ridge Brewery
Naming right sponsor, Grand Ridge Brewery, will be serving their multi-award winning local craft beer and cider at a number of locations around the track with a public bar located inside the expo. Take a moment to retreat indoors and enjoy a nice cold beer or cider.
