In what has been 11 long years since Ducati’s last World Champion was crowned with Carlos Checa, Bautista’s Championship title also saw the 37-year-old be just the second Spanish rider to win this prestigious crown and the first time since 2011, 2012 & 2013 that three different World Superbike Champions, on three different manufacturers have been crowned!

With changes in comparison to years gone by and a return to a traditional starting point at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the provisional 2023 World Superbike calendar promises intense action from the start.

Eyes have already started to turn towards 2023 in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship despite two rounds left of the 2022 season, and another piece of next year’s rider line-up has fallen into place.

In what will be a short yet exciting turn around for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, the Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round will return to its traditional spot on the WorldSBK calendar in 2023 as the opening round on the 24th to 26th February at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

While Spaniard Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) may have one hand on the trophy, with a strong chance of wrapping up the Championship in Race 1 of Mandalika next weekend, Toprak Razgatlioglu is trailing fiercely behind by 82 points in the Championship standings with two rounds remaining in the 2022 season.

Reigning Champion Dominique Aegerter is now potentially one win away from becoming a two-time World Supersport Champion.
